Our Mandarin programs are classes designed for children, to learn Mandarin Chinese in a play and fun setting. Previous Chinese knowledge is not required or expected. The teachers will inspire Mandarin learning through songs, games, stories, and other age appropriate activities. The classes will be conducted in Mandarin.

This program was originally initiated by board members of ACE and is now managed by AAS (Asian Arts Studio).

Our lead teacher, Nancy Suen Laoshi has been with our program since Fall 2006. She has many years of experience in teaching young children. She has taught preschool and kindergarten age children both in China and US. She also taught at many afterschool Chinese programs at elementary schools including Lakeshore Elementary and Francis Scott Key. She is a wonderful teacher and children love her.

Summer Camps:
The Mandarin and Art Summer Camp helps kids learn and improve their language skills in Mandarin through art projects. In summer 2010, Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University will sponsor the camp by providing a native Mandarin spekaing teacher. The students participate in classes that include culturally rich activities such as drawing, Chinese brush painting, yaogu (the Chinese waist dram), chinese folk songs and poetry, and may more. The camp is small and takes a maximum of 15 children. (most of our campers are from the two Mandarin immersion programs in the City)
